It Almost Pumpkin Time!

I love October! That means Halloween which means carving pumpkins! This is one that I did for Jake last year. I have to do a funkin for Taylor this year, and I think I am going to do Minnie Mouse, but I am not sure. I heard that the pumpkins might not be that good this year because of all the rain, but I hope that isn't true.

My Grandma got her Halloween costume already, all I know is whatever she is going to be....it starts with a "P" and it's not a princess or a pirate! My mom call us the Queens of Halloween! This is a picture of us last year! We always go to my Aunt Nancy's for dinner and trick or treating, and my Uncle Bill always scares us with this gross mask that he has! Nancy told me she is making Mummy Hot Dogs for dinner! I guess the whole family gets into it, not just me and Grandma!

This is Jake in the costume I got him last year, can't wait to see you as a little monkey this year buddy!

New Pictures

Picture #1--Basketball game Thursday night against Hamilton we won 29-27, that improves our record to 3-0! We will see if we stay undefeated this week we play Muskegon Reeths-Puffer at Puffer, those girls tend to be a little more aggressive than we are used to and usually the officials aren't great either!

Picture #2--My cousins Karly and Grant we all met downtown to watch their sister Kirsten at mannequin night!

Picture #3-- Kirsten the Mannequin

Picture #4--Ready for her close up!

Picture #5--Me and my buddy Jake!

Oh yeah one more thing, I ordered Jillian Michaels DVD (the 30 day shred) last week, just did work out number one, and I have to say it was pretty good definitely keeps the heart rate up!

Grandpa is Cancer FREE!

Grandma is probably not going to be happy with me for putting her picture on here...but we don't care cause Grandpa just got the all CLEAR from the cancer dr! Gramps, have a cold one you deserve it! Love you guys!

1st Game of the Year

In about 2 hours my 7th grade girls will have their first game of the year! I have to say that they are looking pretty good to me, but you never know until you see them against another team. I am sure that they are nervous, let's just hope we shoot at the right hoop and I don't get a technical foul like I did last year for having 6 on the court. I told one of the girls to get in the game for someone else, and forgot to tell her to check in....I then made the official aware that I had 6 on the court and tried to tell him what happened (in a very calm manner) and he T-eed me up! I thought that was a bit harsh since it was our first game! Anyway, I hope we don't have any of that today!

Last night was the bi kick off event to the ministry year! We had about 130 kids a Lawrence St. Park for hot dogs, popcorn, games and Tommee Profitt live in concert. It was a good event and the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. I am looking forward to grilling hot dogs again on Friday night for the Zeeland East homecoming! If your going to the game, stop by and see us before you go in a get a hot dog!

1st Week Of School

I always looked forward to school...I remember getting all new school supplies but my favorite part was getting new basketball shoes! This past week was the first week back at school and my first week back coaching basketball (no new shoes for me though). It was a busy week but a good one. I like seeing all the kids in the same place again, however I am a little overwhelmed trying to learn the new 6th graders names. My basketball team is looking pretty good this year, we will find out soon enough our first game is this week Thursday!

I'll leave you with one of my lunchroom conversations....Thursday I went to Cityside, someone let their 6th graders out early and so there were only a few in the lunchroom, but one girl sitting alone, so I decided to go over and sit with her. We had the normal chit chat conversation...how's school, do you like your teachers, can you get your locker open alright...this is when I realized that I didn't get her name. So we exchanged names, and she no more than told me her name, and the next words out of her mouth were "Yeah, I've had a hard life. My mom died when I was five and my dad and my Grandma have been fighting over me ever since." It was like she just had to get it out. I sat with her the rest of her lunch and said a prayer for her as she walked away.....

If you think of it say a prayer for this girl, me and the rest of the YFC staff as we go to the lunchrooms this school year!
