Harlem Globetrotters

Monday night we were supposed to take the Bridge basketball team to the East/West game at the Van Andel, but due to the generosity of one of their donors we were able to take the kids to see the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters! I have seen them play before but it was so much fun to watch the kids watch the show! They loved it! And, if that wasn't enough we got to meet a few of the players before the game...pretty sweet deal! Anyway here are some of the pictures from that night!

Tigerfest 2009

Saturday I went to Tigerfest! They open up Comerica Park and you can go meet the Tigers, get autographs, get pictures, and see the dugout and clubhouse! It's great if your a Tiger fan and gets you excited about the upcoming season! The autographs are a "treasure hunt" style so you never know where anyone is going to be...but we found Brandon Inge, Carlos Guilen, The Schipper, and Gene Dumont! Opening days is only a few months away! The Tiger home opener is April 10! GO TIGERS!!

The 3rd Baseman Brandon Inge (cuter in person even!)

Zeeland West Softball

March 9 will be my first day of coaching for Zeeland West! I have accepted the JV softball position. I am really excited about it! Softball was my favorite sport when I was in high school! I am looking for an assistant coach if anyone is interested or knows someone who might be...I think I just might have to watch A League of Their Own this week to get me prepared for this job!

"THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!"

A Win for ZAYM

Well we won last night....although it wasn't pretty! We had about 7 people come out to play for Zeeland Area Youth Ministers and ended the game with 6, one took and elbow to the eye and it swelled up pretty fast. The kids played a great game, and we all had a good time! I did not do any dunking last night, I figured I better not be showing off at a game like that ;) We have another game on Thursday night, but this time I will be coaching the Bridge team, not playing against them! No snow day today and I was really hoping for one. So, I guess I am off to the Bridge for drop in time and club! Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday and don't forget Biggest Loser tonight at 8pm!

Basketball

This will be me tonight! ZAYM vs The Bridge Faith Reformed Church 6pm!

Oh Barf!

Here is the forecast for the week....who says global warming is in effect....not here at least! I'm just glad I don't have to go outside for recess anymore! I have a basketball game tonight, but I'm not coaching, I'm playing. It ought to be interesting, I haven't played in a while....a group of youth ministers (and their friends) from Zeeland are getting together to play the Bridge team. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. Wish me luck, last year Craig told me I could play as long as I didn't get hurt...well when we were warming up on of the guys on MY team threw a ball at my head while I was going up for a lay-up. It hit me in the head and basically took me out for most of the game....I'm not sure but I think you could see the word SPAULDING on the side of my face too!

Soup Day

After church today all of us kids went over to mom and dad's house for breakfast. Then we made soup and sharpened my moms knives. Tara and Adam did the knives. Kelly made a squash soup that tastes like pumpkin pie, I guess...can't say that I tried that one. And, I am making Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup which I had a Lynette's house and really liked. I highly reccommend it especially on a day like today (or the rest of the week for that matter) when the snow is falling and it's FREEZING outside. You can find the recipe on Lynette's blog or on allrecipes.com.

Other than that not much to report....first week back at school, and it was an interesting one. Camp Geneva was full for their winter camp, which has NEVER happened so at the last minute we had to re-think that idea, REMIX is this week so it will be crazy busy, and the kids...well lets just say I have my work cut out for me! Enjoy the snow and cold weather...try to stay warm...make soup or something! As my Aunt Cherdl (that's how my cousin Kirsten pronounces it (Cheryl) says "Isn't it pretty?!"

Buttermilk Biscuits

I found this video today on my computer from our Colorado trip...and after the day that I have had today, I needed a good laugh so I thought I would share it with all of you!

Year End Fund Raising?!?

This is what fund raising does to you...turns your hair GRAY! Or, we finally had the Christmas program at church and I had to play the part of Grandma!
