Halloween Shopping

The most wonderful time of the year is quickly approaching....HALLOWEEN!  I always get just as excited as the kids when the candy and the costumes start coming out in the stores!  Kelly and I took Jackie and Grace this weekend to pick out some costumes.  I was thinking that we would walk away with two princess costumes of some sort.  I was wrong however, Grace chose the Chesire Cat (after we told her she couldn't pick the devil costume) and Jackie decided then that she would be Alice.  Grace was so excited to see that her costume had a tail and when she twirled it flew up, Jackie was excited to....so fun to hear them giggle with delight.  Disney is going to be fun in February! But first, I can't wait to go to Post Family Farm this weekend and get some pumpkins!  Halloween here we come!

Girls Weekend

This weekend Kelly and I had a sleepover with Jackie and Grace!  It was a HOT weekend so we spent a lot of time at the pool and Kelly's, we stayed up late, made pancakes, had pizza, played Pokemon, and went to see the movie The Secret Life of Pets with Austin, Ava, Abby, and Papa!  It was a fun sleepover and we were all tired on Saturday night!  Sunday in between the storms, we went blueberry picking at Bowereman's.  Grace loves blueberries but recently she refused to eat them.  When we got out to the fields she remembered how much she like blueberries.  At one point she looked at Kelly and I and said, "mmmmm these are GOOD!  I am going to eat them until I puke!"  Oh Gracie, you always make us laugh!  She must have remembered a few years ago when she did eat them until she puked!

4th of July

4th of July was a little different this year, Tara and Adam and the girls were flying home from Alaska so we missed them, Ross was working, Andrea is out East working, Grant and Karly were with their friends.  It was a smaller crowd, maybe a little quieter, but still fun!  It was a nice day down at the beach at Jason and Abby's!  We played in the water, on the sand and with the kids.  About 3:30 the food festivities began, it started with me making guacamole, as soon as that was done we started to boil the water for our shrimp boil.  Shrimp boil is not really an accurate term because my Aunt Cheryl got King Crab Legs, Shrimp, and Scallops!  If you have never done a shrimp boil, I highly recommend it!  As Abby was saying "Put a Little South in Your Mouth!"  It was fabulous and I am sure that we all went home full.  As if that wasn't enough, there was ice cream cones, and an awesome shrimp boil themed cake made by Judy (it was really a key lime cake that also was fabulous).

We had a great time, thanks to Abby and Jason for hosting, and Aunt Cheryl for all the great seafood!  Looking forward to the next Faasse family party, as always!  Saturday, my dad, Adam, my Aunt Sharon, and I are playing in the Dean Wierenga Memorial Golf Classic.  And next week, we are heading to Michigan's Adventure with the kids, should be an adventure!

Happy Birthday

Thanks to my family and friends who made my birthday yesterday a special one, and thanks to the Tigers for getting a win for my birthday! And thanks to these two who called and sang to me!

Easter Bunny

In case you haven't heard the Easter Bunny will be at Tip Toes this Saturday (3-19) and next Saturday (3-26) from 11a-1pm.  Stop by and say hi, bring your camera as it's free to see the bunny, the bunny will have treats for the kids and there will be specials at the store for the adults!

Happy Birthday Grace!

Grace is going to be 3 on Sunday!  Last weekend Kelly and I took her to Target to get he this Elsa Bike!  It seems like everything is better if it has Elsa on it these days.  I remember when we got Jackie a bike, she was a little hesitant at first, but not Grace she took off pedaling that thing as fast as she could.  She is a wild woman.  Gracie you crack me up, declaring yourself as the Butter Queen, claiming that your going to puke just to get yourself out of a situation, you've got quite the sense of humor girl.  I can't wait to take you to a Tigers Game, teach you to play catch, and watch you meet Elsa next year at Disney World!  Happy Birthday Franny! Aunt Kate loves you lots!

Babysitting

Tara got a new job in the fall teaching art for Grandville Public Schools.  It's great because she is closer to home and that is where the girls will go to school.  The only downside was she needed a babysitter on Thursdays for the 1st semester.  With my job being flexible I was able to do it for her.  It has been so fun seeing these two goofballs once a week!  We have a routine too....Jackie goes to school in the morning, so Grace and I drop her off at about 8:50 and then Grace says "Let's go to the mall" (Kelly's mall, meaning Rivertown).  We head to Panera and get a bagel and some apple juice.  She likes the cinnamon crunch with "lots of butta!" One week she told me she was the butter queen.  Then we usually go up to the Carousel for a ride, walk around for a bit and then go get Jackie and head home for lunch.  After lunch we try to get Grace to take a nap and then I get some time with Jackie, she likes to read, play games, or play on the i pad especially if she is stuck on a level of a game and needs some help, I am the video game Aunt.  We built a snowman yesterday afternoon, it was so nice to see the sun and have the temp above 30 degrees we all needed to get out for a bit.  Tara's schedule switches at the semester (next week) and she only teaches on Tues.  Good for her to be home but I think I'll still have to run in to Grandville every once and a while and take Grace to Panera and play the beans game with Jackie!  Thanks for letting me have this time with them Tara and Adam....we have had so much fun!
