The Lorax

Anyone up for a movie?

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving is only two days away...we will be heading to my Aunt Nancy's with the Faasse side of the family. When we were younger we would always go to see both sides of the family on Thanksgiving. It always got a little crazy. I remember Grandma Audrey always had riced potatoes and Grandma Jackie always had corn bread from Boston Market and she always bought those butters in the shape of Turkeys! I am making Paula Deen's Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake to bring to Nancy's this year, I brought it last year and it was a big hit...highly recommended!

Thanksgiving night I always go and spend the night at Nancy's and we go to get her tree on Friday. Nancy always gets a live tree and it is HUGE. I remember one year it was just her and I that went and we were holding the tree on the roof driving it home from the Tree Lot in Cascade cause we thought we might loose it! I always feel a little like Clark Griswold when we go to get the tree! This year will be no different, I am sure the tree is big! It is a concolor which is a great tree it has soft needles and smells like a citrus fruit.

Usually there is no black Friday shopping for me....but my cousin Karly thinks there might be something out there that we should go get...we'll see how tired I am. Happy Thanksgiving!

Brandon Heath

Brandon Heath was at our church last week and the show was great!

Halloween

I don't know for sure, but this is my guess for what Grandma would have been for Halloween this year! Miss you Gram!

Apple Girl

So if you follow my sister Tara's Blog, then this is a re-run....but isn't she just the cutest! Last week Tara and I took Jackie to go apple picking and she loved it! She loves apples! We went to Cranes (not the big one, the smaller farm across the street) U-Pick HoneyCrisp are open there....65 cents per pound! Good Deal and they are great apples!

I have been working out at Camp Geneva this week helping them with some school groups from West Ottawa! It has been a lot of fun hanging out with the middle schoolers. I am really tired though, yesterday we were in the rain all day and but today was a beautiful day! I wouldn't be swimming but the kids loved it!

Oh yeah and I bought a car! 2004 Subaru Impreza Wagon! Can't wait to get it!

Life Update

As I sit here this morning, I can't help but think of my Grandma Jackie! For many reasons, first the sun is out and I think she would have been enjoying this great weather that we have had. I KNOW she would be THRILLED with the Tigers right now! Let's keep it going boys! And, of course Halloween is coming! Miss you Gram, I am trying to teach Aunt Fran computers, but it's just not the same as you....and I don't see her going out and buying a computer or and I-Pod anytime soon!

Most of you know it's been a few weeks now since I left my position at Youth for Christ. I know that this is God's will for my life and I feel at peace about the decision. With that being said, it was a little weird to not be at the school last week. It is also very exciting to think about where God will place me in the future. I am trusting him totally with this, which is a daily thing for me, but it really has been a good experience. I was reading Isaiah last night at this stood out to me...."quietness and trust shall be your strength." I am trying to camp there right now. Thank you to all of you who have faithfully supported me the last 6 years and continue to do so.

I sold my car in August to my cousin Ross (Hope your first day went well yesterday Bud!). Since then I have been sharing with my mom. Which actually works great most of the time. I think she likes to have someone else drive her if she can. But, there are a couple leads on a car this week, so maybe I will know something soon! This is also exciting!

Well, I guess that's about all for now! Oh, if you see my Dad this week, it is his Birthday on Friday, so wish him Happy Birthday!

Poison Ivy to Top it off

It has been an interesting week, I am sharing a car with my mom, which works out good but you know how it is when it isn't really yours, my phone broke on Wed. (I took it in to Sprint they said they fixed and by the time I got home it was broke again), my mailbox got hit by some workers that were paving the bike path by my house, I drove all the way up to the cottage with the intention on helping my dad to get the dock and boat out, for Grandpa to tell us that he wants it left in (so now it will be a cold rainy day in October for that project) all of that and to top it off, woke up Friday with Poison Ivy. I thought it would be ok but my Saturday morning I was so swollen in my hands that I had to call my cousin Abby for a prescription. THANKS ABBY! Let's just say this week will have to be better.

I missed seeing Jackie at church today.....actually it was just me and dad today at church. Mom and Kelly are in Seattle SHOPPING and Tara and Adam and Jackie were in Traverse City.

The countdown is on! We leave Saturday morning early for Colorado! I can't wait!

Who's Your Tiger?

I don't know if you follow baseball or not but last week was the all-star break. Really I don't watch or care about the all-star game! The Tigers had a lot of players in it, but for me it's just a long stretch in the summer when the Tigers are not on TV. My Grandma would watch all the games and she has taught me to do the same. I miss her calling and saying did you see that play last night, or did you see that home run! It seems that the Tigers tend to struggle from the all-star break through the end of the season, and so far they have lived up to that, dropping 2 of 3 to Chicago last weekend. I hope they can pick it up! I was just saying that Grandma would not have been happy with how they played this weekend. She loved all the players, but especially Magglio Ordonez, (I think she thought he was cute). BUT I think this year she might be a fan of Andy Dirks, (he is pretty cute too) and since he made his debut on my birthday this year, I think he is my Tiger this year! Who's your Tiger? GO TIGERS! They better get their game faces on! Miss you Gram!

Water Girl!

4th of July was one of Grandma Jackie's favorites. She loved to have everyone get together, summer, water balloons, and fireworks! I remember going over to her house when I was little and her having a pool in the driveway ready to play. Well the tradition continues. The pool is on the deck and Jackie got her first dip in it today! She did pretty good except the suit was too big to stay on her little butt!

I will never forget the 4th of July when we first had moved out to Holland, Grandma Jackie had got some "good fireworks" and we decided that the best place to shoot them off would be the tennis courts. Long story short, we lit the grass on fire, and that scared the little kids. I also remember her asking me if I though we could shoot water balloons across the street at the people on the boats with her 3 person slingshot. She was the fun Grandma and will be missed tomorrow. She would have loved to play in the pool with Austin and Jacqueline. I know she will be looking down tomorrow and smiling. (And I am sure she was smiling when Kirstin scored the winning run in her championship softball game this week. She is proud of you Kirst!)

Happy 4th of July! We have a CRAZY amount of food (that's like Grandma too) so if you are out by the beach tomorrow stop by and say hi!

Colorado Bound!

CONGRATULATIONS to my cousin Ross who is heading out to Colorado this August! He got a job working in Eagle at the airport with TSA! We are all so happy (and proud of him) for him (secretly I am a little jealous) and can't wait to go out and visit! Ross, since this might be your last 4th of July in Michigan for while, I will make sure that we have lots of Flag Cookies!

I just had to include an updated picture of Jacqueline too!
