September
So it's officially fall, September is almost over, and that means one of my favorite times of the year is right around the corner...HALLOWEEN! I was at Target last night with my mom and got my first pumpkin of the year (Well actually a fake one....a funkin). We hit Crane's already for Apples and if you haven't I recommend it. The apples are great this year!
Fall also means baseball playoffs and the Tigers secured their ticket to the post season last night! GO TIGERS!
This weekend the fall fun continues with our 2nd Annual Trip to Post Family Farms! It should be fun with Jackie and Austin being a year older I think they will have much more fun! Plus, as and added bonus this time G-Ma and Papa are coming! Can't wait!
A Quick Update
Wow it's been a while since I have updated this so I will try to hit all the highlights in the last few weeks!
1. Spring Hill Day Camp--I helped with Spring Hill Day Camp at Community in August. It was a great week of rock climbing, Euro-Bungee, Tie Dye, Songs, Water Slides, Friends and Fun. My job was primarily to help with activities that required the kids to put on harnesses (rock climbing, ladder climbing, flying squirrel...etc). It was so cool to see the kids overcome their fears and reach beyond there comfort zone. I really enjoyed this part at Noah's Ark too. The first day of Camp the weather was not great, rainy and cool. One of the kids that Community sponsored, that I helped to get there comes running from his classroom after this day and say "That was the BEST day of my life!" Later in the week, one of the Kid's Hope mentors who made sure the kids had rides each day said she was loving the conversations that were happening to and from camp. Thursday afternoon after camp the kids were talking and one said "I have learned so much about Jesus that I never knew before." Precious! Great Week!
2. Peach Picking--We took Jackie and Grace peach picking at Crane's! Jackie had a riot playing hide and seek amongst the trees and trying to find the biggest peaches. And they were big, softball size!

3. Back to School Night--We had a back to school night last week for Belay. So many of you donated school supplies and backpacks for us to hand out, and let me tell you it was a big hit, so THANK YOU! The kids loved playing in the bounce house and getting their caricatures done (thanks Tara Meeeuwsen for that). They were so grateful to have backpacks and I think even a little excited about going back to school. I am excited for our after school programming to start again soon and see them all on a regular basis again!
4. Tiger Game--My dad and I went to the Tiger game last Thursday. What a game, after being behind the whole game, the Tigers came back and thanks to a Torii Hunter walkoff home run they won the game! (27 outs in a game, no quitting til it's over...right Luke :) Kurt had a great object lesson going with Luke that game!)
5. Cottage--From the game we went right to the Cottage and took Grandpa's boat out and the dock out. Not the most fun job in the world, but we know he appreciates it!
6. Labor Day-- We hung out at Abby's house for the day. The weather wasn't the greatest, but we still had fun tie dying shirts, playing with the kids and eating great food. Thanks Abby!

4th of July
I am the first child, and if you have read anything on birth order you know that change can be difficult for us. I totally fall into this category. 4th of July has always been my mom's holiday to host on the Faasse side. When we moved from Grandville to Holland I thought 4th of July would never be the same. I thought nothing could top the parade in Grandville and the craft show and the fireworks. Well it turns out that being by the beach and across the street from a pool made for a good 4th of July too, and who can forget Grandma Jackie lighting the tennis court and grass on fire with all the fireworks she had!! I wasn't sure when I heard that we were changing up the venue yet again. Off to my cousin Abby's new house in Byron Center. And again, I was a little apprehensive at first. I mean what could top the beach and sitting on my parents deck watching the boats and the cars go by? Well it turns out that sitting by the lake in Abby's backyard watching Jackie and Austin and Ava and Grace build sand castles and catch fish tops it.
It was a great day! We had beautiful weather, and it was a lot of fun hanging out with the Faasse's. Grandpa Ed would have been so proud too see Jackie and Austin kissing the fish before they put them back in the water (I remember when he used to make us kiss the bait!). Aunt Fran had a great time sitting in the sand under her umbrella watching the flutter of activity around her. I wish Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Don could have sat with us in the sand too....I am sure that there were some big fireworks being lit in heaven by Grandma, and flag cookies and red licorce (and no grass fires)! I am sure that 4th of July in Heaven beats what we have down here.
All in all one of the best 4th of July's I can remember. What's going to top this one? I guess we will just have to wait and see what next year brings!
