Probably most of you have never heard of Morristown, MI....but that is where I was this weekend. It's close to Kalkaska and Elk Rapids. My Grandpa Don has a hunting cabin up there and I went up with my sister Kelly, Uncle Gary, Aunt Sue, and cousins Ross and Andrea. It was fun even though it was cold, windy and rainy most of the time. We had an interesting discussion about words that we can NOT stand (panties is my word) and words that people pronounce wrong (for example my mom add a "g" in the word onion---ongion)! Sorry mom! We went for a walk on Sunday when the rain let up and we saw bear tracks so that was pretty cool. We have seen Cougars up there too in the past. Makes you think twice about going to the outhouse in the middle of the night! My Uncle Gary led devos each day by reading Proverbs....I think his new favorite word is Sluggard! Anyway a good time was had by all.
2 days into the school year and 2 school lunches down. The 6th grade class seems really big to me. Other than that....school lunch is school lunch, lots of cheesy bread sticks and chicken nuggets (I NEVER eat there by the way). It was good to see all the kids in one place and to get back into a routine. The Bridge was open for the first time yesterday too and we had about 20 kids. I need to put picture on my computer from my camera of last week, (Isaiah at the zoo, Caleb's 1st birthday and the cabin) when I do, I will update again!
Update
It's been a while since I posted...so I thought I better update! Not much new to report....Last week I was out of town for a few days at a YFC Regional conference in Indiana. It was a typical YFC Conference...some really good stuff (Dan Wolgemuth the President is ALWAYS great to listen too) and some stuff that you could do without. My cousin Karly turned 16 on Sunday...this is going to age me but I remember the day that she was born. I was a sophomore in high school and we had my Grandparents over at my house. We all knew that Nancy was in labor, all except for Grandma and our job was to keep Grandma busy until it was all over and then we could tell her (otherwise she would have worried all day). We had a party for her out by the beach, and it was a great day, big waves to swim in, lots of sun/fun and good food.
Next week I am taking the week off....the last week before school starts! I have no big plans, except for to take my cousin Isaiah to the zoo and going up to the Cabin with my Uncle Gary and his family. I can't wait for school to start, I am ready to see the kids again and get back into a routine again. The kick-off to the ministry year will be September 15 at Lawrence St. Park. We are calling it The Party of Awesomeness! There will be food, games, inflatable games, music and prizes (and it's all free!) so if you know a middle schooler in Zeeland send them over to the park Wed. Sept. 15!

Basketball Tourney!

This weekend was the annual Bridge 3 on 3 Tournament. I got to officiate the girls court, it was fun to be outside and do something different for a change. The weather was beautiful and according to Jed they raised a good amount of money. No issues to report on the girls court either....now the elementary school boys court that was a different story...lots of helicopter parents down there!
Not much new here...I am watching Caleb again tomorrow night til Scott and Tara get home, and then sometime after she gets home we are going to attempt to make and can salsa. I got a recipe with good directions from Kathy Mehrtens, and Chuck keeps bringing me fresh produce each day so we are well on our way.
Enjoy this HOT/HUMID weather!
